GIRL TEARS: Woke Against The Tide.

Over a week ago, the doctor explained to me why my brain hasn’t been working like it should. Why I’m losing interest in things I love, why leaving the house physically hurts and is exhausting, why everything seems too much and too loud. If you’ve got a physical ailment, you do your best to take care of yourself. But when it is a mental one, the thought of trying to do anything for yourself is overwhelming. Writing about music is the one thing I have as some form of outlet. I go through stages of wanting to carry on with it. Then other days, I really don’t care. Today I care. Today I want to write about the new Girl Tears record because it’s so bloody great. Even if I didn’t want to write about it, I would force myself. It seems that’s the only way. Anyway, enough of that. The music. That is what’s important.

I fell in love with Girl Tears a few years ago and I immediately knew that they would be one of those bands I would forever obsess over. They are loud. So loud. Brutally loud. Their songs last long enough for them to grab you by the neck and yell in your ear. For me though, I want the songs to last longer because I just love them. Everything about them is just a reminder of why I love music. If I was a wealthy person, I’d fly them over here and get them to play as many shows as possible. For now, I’ll create images of their live shows in my head.

Woke Against The Tide is their new record that came out on 28th October, and although it has 18 tracks on it- it only lasts just over 20 minutes. I can play it once in full on my journey to work but it still doesn’t feel like it is enough. It’s one of those records that I am happy to have on a loop in my ear. Everything about their new record sounds tougher and braver than their first release, Tension. Tension was a kick in the teeth. Woke Against The Tide feels like you’re annihilating your soul. There’s nothing wrong with this, sometimes it just has to be done.

Trying to pick my favourite song off the record is too tough, and my current inability to make a decision without working myself into a panic attack just isn’t worth the trouble. Every song is wonderfully aggressive and to be honest, if the songs lasted longer than 2 minutes I really don’t think it would feel the song. The songs are like punches to the face. The songs are polar opposites to how Kam, Tristan and Sal are. The fury and the sheer loudness in the songs makes you want to start your own band, and make your own noise. Do it. There’s no right or wrong noise.

Girl Tears are like that cool relative that lead you gently by the arm and guide you to a world of music you may not have found on your own. Their music takes you to a world that is so decadent yet sacred. They don’t sound like any band that I know of- past or present. Sure there’s slight influences of certain bands, but all they do is entirely their own and that is even more prominent on this record than on Tension. Tension was a beautiful introduction to an equally beautiful band. But with Woke Against The Tide, what you hear is 3 people sure of their sound. 3 people sure of how they want to deafen and amaze the listener. And trust me, they do exactly that. It’s a pure Punk record from start to finish.

Kam’s vocals on Lost Love are my favourite. I love the desperation in his voice and how he makes you cling on to every single word he screams. Sal and Tristan both make me wish I could play the drums or bass. Kam is also a menace on the guitar. I am so proud of what they have done with this record and how they’ve created a gorgeous atmosphere on it. It leads wonderfully from Tension, and regardless of how many times a day I listen to it, I keep finding different parts of the record to love. It’s so easy to go back and listen to it over and over again. When you do this, you notice different things and your favourite song or your favourite moment on the record changes. Like I mentioned, I cannot pick a favourite and I’m okay with that- it just means I can keep on listening. Over and over, and finding new things to love. You notice more when you approach a record like this rather than being dead set on trying to find one song to obsess over.

Woke Against The Tide is a real tense listen, but nothing good comes from being settled and easy. Every song is a shockwave through the body. Made up of parts that will leave you feeling bruised but satisfied.

GIRL TEARS: Uneasy/Sedated.

Some bands make you feel like you are anywhere but where you are when you listen to them. I’ve always had that feeling with Girl Tears. They make me constantly feel like I’m in a sweaty dive bar in ’76- not sat on my bed in 2016. They have this exhilarating and anarchic sound that makes you want to throttle the closest person to you whilst flailing about in an unsettling manner. Think the Ramones and Fugazi coming together head first. I think it’s been 2 years since I first wrote about Girl Tears, and every time I listen to them I am left in awe of how great they sound. But also frustrated as they are one of those bands that I HAVE to see live one day.

On the 28th October Sal, Tristan and Kam will be releasing Woke Against The Tide which is obviously going to be as brilliant as 2014’s Tension. They have showed no signs of ever quietening down, which is partially why I bloody love them. The main reason? They are 3 genuinely great guys who make exceptional music. How could anyone not love them?

Uneasy smacks you in the face for one minute and 11 seconds. All of their songs feel like a smack in the face, and by no means is this a bad thing. Sometimes you need to hear something that just brutally grabs you and thrusts you into the unknown. Uneasy should make any new listeners of Girl Tears feel just that- and unsettled. For me, they are the perfect band but I know for some they would put them on edge with how bold their sound is and how aggressively loud they are. By no means is this a bad thing, and as someone who loves music that sounds like this, I consider Girl Tears to be nothing short of perfect.

Sedated is one minute and 41 seconds of unrefined noise that will do anything but put you to sleep.This is the kind of song you learn every word to and chant it right back at a Girl Tears live show, or in the comfort of your own home if you can’t make it to a show. There is something quite beautifully sinister about this song, and I think that’s why I want to have it on constant repeat. You want something that gives that unsettling feeling in your stomach to truly move you, and with Sedated and also Uneasy- Girl Tears do it perfectly. They always do.

I think when you hear certain bands you can instantly pick up on the settings in which you should be listening to them. With Girl Tears I’ve always said that the ideal setting for their music is in a live setting. In a real run down basement bar that has bodies crammed in, all throwing themselves around covered in sweat and whatever else. If we all started our day by having a Girl Tears song as our alarm in the morning, we’d probably be more alert.

There are very few bands who can grip you by the throat so passionately with their music on first listen. Better still, with their first record. I can name a handful (I won’t) of bands that have debut records that do this. They are the records you still go back to more than once a week. I don’t mean bands from decades ago, I mean more recent times. It is so easy now to put something out, and to then be forgotten. But there are a few that, when I’m old and irritating those in the care home with my rowdy music, I will remember fondly and love them as much as I do right now.

A band that have become very important and dear to me over the past 6 months or so are Girl Tears. They are 3 guys from LA who make the kind of music that makes you believe pieces of Punk is still alive. The real raw essence of Punk is in their music, so it seemed obvious that I would really love this band. Kam, Sal and Tristan make music that smacks you upside the head and goes right into your gut. The lyrics get to you and the sheer boldness in the music, the short punchy songs really get you to the core. I’ve no heard anything like this in a long time.

In an ideal world I would have interviewed Girl Tears after a sweaty and ferocious LA show, but for now let’s just work with email. I sent the questions over to the band after they played SXSW as I wanted to hear first hand what it was like for a new band to play such a notorious event. An event that, some may argue as now a corporate affair- but the music lovers will see it for what it is. It’s a showcase for new music, and new music is always a pleasure to find and enjoy.

I asked Girl Tears what it was like to play SXSW and mentioned a quote from Alison Mosshart who stated that playing during the day in the blistering heat and sunshine isn’t meant for their music. A few other bands have said this, including the wonderful Dum Dum Girls.

 

Tristan: “SXSW was great. Crazy at times – but really great. We got to meet a lot of people and see some great bands. It would definitely be easier to go just to watch bands vs. playing. Getting around the city in the van was a little hectic, but you kind of have to expect that. We didn’t have to deal with any media people at all – I don’t think anyone really cares about us haha – there was like 916 other cooler bands there. I think this is actually the first interview we’ve ever done?!  We played pretty much every type of show – a bar, an outdoor stage, a record store, a big tent, a barn(?), a backyard show, and a pool party. It was really fun. Playing in the day is kind of weird, especially for our type of music, people aren’t really that hyped to be berated by loud, fast music at 12 in the afternoon. Especially when most of them probably had been drinking the night before. But we got lucky – it wasn’t too hot that week, so that was nice.”

 

See dear reader, don’t listen to all the cynics that say SXSW is some corporate shindig. It is everything to bands like Girl Tears because they get to show new fans what they are about. As a band that play mainly shows in LA, playing in Austin is a big deal for them.

 

Kam: “I drank more beer and slept fewer hours, than probably any other week of my life. That was my SXSW. It was great. Like Tristan said, we played day shows, we played night shows, played in houses, in backyards, on stages, in a barn, in a liquor store, in a record shop… it’s all just kind of a blur at this point, but I can’t wait for next year.”

Sal: “SXSW was a dream. The luxury of living in LA is that most bands stop here for tour anyway, so (with the exception of getting to check out some new bands) I was able to just focus on our shows and hanging out with as many people as I could. In that respect, it didn’t disappoint, because it was pretty much a great vacation from work and the shows were terrific and extremely diverse. I wouldn’t trade any of the experience there for anything else, and enjoyed meeting all the people I got to meet!”
Just go through their Instagram page, and you’ll see tons of photos of the band having fun at SXSW. I really enjoyed their photos of them seeing Dum Dum Girls play. Girl Tears are excited about finding new music as they are making it. This attitude really comes through in their debut record, Tension. Which (and I’m not being biased) is honestly one of the strongest debut records I’ve heard in a long time. It’s got the dark, distorted feel that is found in the beloved Psychocandy. I feel like I’m in 1985 not 2014. So what could possibly influence a band like Girl Tears? For me they do sound like Iggy Pop, the Ramones and The Birthday Party bumped heads in a drunken bar brawl and Girl Tears happened. What made them all want to make music?
Tristan: “I would have to say that Operation Ivy made me want to play in a band & make music. The first time I heard them – it was totally one of those moments where I was so intrigued and confused as to what I was hearing. I had never heard music like that before, or that type of recording. I seriously thought something was wrong with the speakers. And then of course I couldn’t stop listening to it, and I dreamed about how fun it would be to play in a band like that, with all that energy and sincerity. And then a couple of years later I bought my first bass (that I still use!) from a friend. Since then I have played in a bunch of different bands – but Girl Tears is the first band I feel completely natural in –  with that energy that I have been lusting after since I first heard Operation Ivy!“
I’m fairly sure in a few years time, people will be saying this about Girl Tears and citing them as influences. Each band member is influenced by something different to the other, and that really comes through in their music.
Kam: “The Replacements are a big one for me, The Ramones, The Nerves, everything Dischord and SST put out in the 80s, all the Slumberland bands, the Sacred Bones bands, Lolipop bands, Burger bands, so much.”
10 points go immediately to Kam for mentioning the above labels.
Sal: “I feel like more than any of my friends, I had to discover everything on my own. My parents listened to pop music and I’ve always had different tastes, which made for great contrasts and unfortunately discovering everything late. The very first music I ever got into was metal on MTV when they used to play music! From there it was borrowing Metallica and Led Zeppelin tapes at the library and it’s all been downhill from there, haha. Still, what I love the most about the band is first and foremost the diversity amongst the three of us and how different we all are as people and musicians. Each person has their unique perspective on everything and together, the results are always unpredictable and super fun.”
That’s exactly why this band have a brilliant tight sound. They all bring something else; their influences aren’t typical or predictable- but they all have one thing in common. Kam, Sal and Tristan have mentioned bands that play with the same passion as they do. That kind of love for what you do is infectious, it just makes you adore them even more.
There’s one other thing that really made me love their music and what they do, and that’s their artwork. Their artwork is created by Tristan. I’m fascinated with his artwork- mainly because in my family, my uncle is the real creative one. He got me into Punk, he’s in a Punk band and is a brilliant artist. He drew me a birthday card last year with Patti Smith on. He also once drew me a picture of the Backstreet Boys, but I was 11 years old and didn’t know any better. What I wanted to know was how Tristan approached his art, is it the same as how he makes music?

Tristan: “I’d like to think my approach to art is similar to music. Most of my art is pretty basic – black and white, heavy contrast etc. I think the way I try to play music is very similar, the whole “less is more” idea goes a long way for me; I always have the thought in the back of my head of “Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should”. With art and music – I think a lot of people get excited with new techniques, or pedals, or effects they’ve learned how to use and want to incorporate them – but a lot of times it just comes out kind of wrong, or forced or gaudy you know? So I feel like you can’t go wrong if you keep it basic. I don’t know though, it might be because I can’t see colors that well and I’m not that great of a bass player! Haha! So I have to keep it basic!”
His art is just as brilliant as his bass playing, he’s just being modest. Girl Tears are down to earth chaps who care about music, and it really comes through. That’s how it should be. There’s no ego here, they just want to be heard. They have to be heard.
Girl Tears live in a place where if you’re not in a band, you’re probably an actor. A place where art, music and film is everything and is everywhere. As beautiful as this can be, it can also be a place where dreams wither and die. It can bring the best out of you, but it can also drain you. Everyone is facing the same struggle with their art, and if you see someone else’s hopes be crushed- does it deter you or does it make you tougher? Everyone is different. Some can cope with this kind of pressure, others just fold. The best way of course, is to just keep going and to ignore most obstacles. To never acknowledge others telling you that you cannot do something. Just how hard is it to be heard in the City of Angels?
Kam: “It can be difficult, most definitely. There are a trillion bands in LA, and you’re totally right, if someone’s not in a band they are an artist, or an actor, or a writer, or something. The only thing I know to do is ignore all of that, and try my hardest to make something that is honest and true to who I am, and who we are, as a band. At the end of the day that’s all that really matters to me. Also our friends at Lolipop Records and Dirty Laundry TV have helped us enormously, we’re really lucky to know good people in LA.”
Sal: “I’ve been playing music for so long and I’ve been in bands where the only goal was to push ourselves as much as possible to get “big”. The place I’m at right now is where I’m completely happy just hanging out with Kam and Tristan and love playing these songs every chance we get. We’ve had some great opportunities which blows my mind, but I’m trying to take it all as it comes, so being just one band amongst millions is just fine with me!”

Girl Tears are sentimental chaps who love each other and love what they do. Their music is at times dark, raw and in your face. But are these three like that? Oh I highly doubt it. Their songs, like I have mentioned many times before, really does keep the manifesto of Punk alive. They’ve got the short, punchy songs down to a fine art. Their songs sound right at just under 2 minutes long. But then you have bands like Warpaint who have some songs that last over 5 minutes, and they sound perfect that way. Warpaint jam on stage for close to 10 minutes after the song has ended, but Girl Tears manage to melt your face and blow your mind in under 2 minutes. Both are polar opposites, but are bands that you just need to witness live (I’m still waiting to see Girl Tears live, but I’m 100% sure their live show would leave me wanting to start a band.) Is having short songs something Girl Tears set out to do?
Kam: “You know, truthfully I don’t think I know what I’m doing half the time. I think when I’m writing songs, I’m just trying to do what feels right and what makes sense in the moment. This album is what made sense to me at the time. All these lyrics, it’s not necessarily how I’m feeling 100% of my life, but in the moments that I wrote it, they were totally honest and real. All I wanna do is write songs that are honest. Whether they are 1 minute long, or 8 minutes long, I’m down for whatever. As long as it’s fucking real, ya know?”
So there you have it. An insight into one of the most exciting bands around. A band that really love what they are doing and aren’t doing it to seek approval from others. Their fans are dedicated and truly believe in them. In a short amount of time, Girl Tears have become one of L.A’s most exciting and genuine bands around. They’ve got something that goes beyond words. Their music has heart, guts, passion, soul and all in between. Their plan over the next year or so is to keep playing live, record more, keep writing and tour some more.

GIRL TEARS-Candy Darling.

Girl Tears are pretty much the only band from LA that you need to be listening to (oh and Roses too, listen to them.) Girl Tears make short, aggressive songs that make you hit that repeat button as many times as you desire. They’ve got the attitude of Punk secured perfectly.

Candy Darling is taken from their addictive debut, Tension which is out now on Lolipop Records. The trio are now back at home after hitting SXSW with their unapologetically ferocious songs in the blistering heat.

Girl Tears make you wish you had some musical talent. They’re songs last about a minute, and it sounds just right. Others may struggle to do this, but it’s no thing for Girl Tears. I just really love their sound. It’s rough, distorted and enough to burst your eardrums if you play it at the right level.

I just wish I had the money to bring these guys to the UK because there are some dark, sweaty, intimate venues that need their sounds to vibrate the floor and to cause some kind of riot. Can someone make this happen please?!

GIRL TEARS- Kill For Love

One of the most noisiest and magnificent bands around have JUST put out the video to their new single, Kill For Love. Girl Tears are a band to slam your body into a wall to, or into another person. Maybe the latter is more “socially acceptable” so I guess you shouldn’t do it. Don’t do it. Never do it. Ever.

I can’t write hundreds of words about the video or song. I can do it about the band, and I’ve done it before. I’ll hold it for now. You can watch this minute video clip right here:

The cassette will be out this month on Lolipop Records. Again, Girl Tears are another fine band from the West Coast of America starting to make a glorious noise, a beautiful and rambunctious noise. The kind of band you know you just HAVE to see live.

Bands I Fell In Love With In 2013.

I had a lot of bands in mind with this, but there was one person in particular I was excited to write about here with pure respect and admiration. I read this evening that this person, The Child Of Lov had died. I’m a sentimental person, and for the most part I think it probably does more harm than good. The heart is still torn over Lou Reed’s passing; that’s something I don’t think I’ll ever get my head around. Anyway, this is dedicated t0 The Child Of Lov- with love and honesty, this one is for him.

There have been so many bands and singers that truly blew my mind this year. I don’t like to listen to one style of music, I find that to be pretty dull. I’ve never enjoyed the company of anyone who just listens to one kind of music. Yes my heart is in Punk, but I’m open to all kinds of music (aside from dance, I don’t enjoy dance music.)

I’ve attempted to shorten this to 10 bands/singers that really meant something to me this year. Some I found accidentally, and some found me. You’d have to ask them if it was an accident or not.

VIRALS- I saw them live twice this year, both times supporting Crocodiles. Shaun is an excellent frontman. He doesn’t speak much to the crowd, and I like that. I’m not one for bands talking a lot to the crowd, I’m not really sure why. Virals are a brilliant band who just have this massive thrashing feel to their sound. Their sound is the harsher side of summer. The side where you’re bored with everything and you roam the streets kicking other people’s rubbish along the way as you walk somewhere. Anywhere. So long as it is away from where you are. They were an absolute joy to watch live, one of the few bands that you just couldn’t get tired of watching.

Mikey & The Drags- I adore Garage Rock. I love how for me, it has that same brutality and passion as Punk had. Mikey & The Drags captivate everything that Garage Rock means to me. Their sensual grooves and a bite to their sound that just makes them tower above the rest, they make you wish you were in a band. In my dreams I am, ha. For me, this band are enough to make anyone who doubts the current state of music a firm believer again. Their songs are short (think Ramones) and make you want to thrash your body about- into walls, into people, deep into the music. They’re a band that need to be played louder than most just so they can set your body free.

Frank’s Daughter- Reinforcing my love for duos, Frank’s Daughter are spectacular. They formed in Brooklyn over whisky and wine, so it is no surprise that they were destined to make gorgeous music. Frank’s Daughter make music that is full of nostalgia, but not wanting to hold onto the past. They make you recall certain life events with a small grin on your face- content with moving on in your life and as a person. It is like they are guiding you through, holding your hand through it all when everyone and everything else has turned its back on you.

Savage Sister- I think I first wrote about them this year? All I know is that I adore their ethereal sound that glows in bands such as Tamaryn and Beach House. Savage Sister are that band you play late at night with the lights off. It doesn’t matter what is floating around your head- they just make it alright. Their name may sound a bit aggressive but their sound is anything but. They calm the soul in ways nothing else has really come close to. Savage Sister make music that is the soundtrack to those pleasant dreams that you never want to end. You could live in your head if you want; that way the dreams will never end.

Ancient Times- One guy making his own kind of noise. Another exceptional talent on the exquisite Soft Power Records. This Brighton wonder-kid is truly making his own scene, leaving a trail of baffled yet mesmerised listeners in his path. I likened George’s vocals to Morrissey’s this year when I wrote about him. I guess this would put small-minded buffoons off him, but I’m sure there are more that are attracted to this, fortunately! His vulnerable voice is what did it for me. When you can hear every word sung with pure emotion, that’s when you know you have found something truly special. Again, I hope 2014 is just as good to him as 2013 has been. He really does deserve it.

Roses- Another band from LA that cause me to occasionally be bored with England are Roses. However, Roses have that 80s Manchester feel to their music. Romance mixed with cynicism, best way to be at times. Maybe most of the time. When I listen to them, I try to figure out why I love them, but I just can’t. I think that’s part of why I love them. Roses have something about them that just makes you want to keep on listening. They make you forget all the bands you are currently into, and you just cast all your attention over to them. Although they are from LA, they don’t posses a “typical” LA sound, and for me, I think is part of the attraction. Roses are a band I’m excited to hear more from next year and beyond.

Girl Tears- Again, another excellent band from the Westcoast that blew my mind this year. I said they sounded like the Ramones and The Cramps having it off with each other. I still stand by that. They smack you in the face with their rambunctious and infectious sound, whilst freaking you out at the same time. Some bands try to do this, but they seem to be lacking something. I don’t know what, I just write about music I love. I stay away from music I don’t like. There’s no point wasting thousands of words on something I don’t like. Girl Tears aren’t afraid to be different, and their sound is so natural and bold. They make you want to throw stuff about. Throw your limbs about if you want, just to be safe. Yeah they are brutal but in a way that isn’t too “shocking.” They’re just a loud band that are extremely talented. Easily one of my favourites this year, no doubt.

The #1s- Playing with a sense of urgency that makes the listeners ears prick up immediately, The #1s are an exceptional band who are just a joy to listen to. When you listen to them, you straight away pick up on just how exciting they must be to see live. Their songs are fast and punchy. Hit repeat so it never ends; creating new moments each time. You scream the words back them until you feel your throat is beaten and scratched. They make music that is easy to relate to- for all those everyday frustrations that you just need to pour out of yourself; The #1s do it for you in a way you wish you could. Maybe one day you will, but for now you’ve got bands like this doing it for you. But hey, one day we must stop being lazy with our emotions.

Woman’s Hour- With all the brutal sounds I seem to enjoy listening to, I must balance it out. Woman’s Hour are another exciting band on Luv Luv Luv Records (listen to Only Real- he’s exceptional too.)Woman’s Hour are an exceptionally delicate band. They are fragile with their words and sounds. They carefully craft music that can break and mend the heart. They of course, do something to the soul too. Fiona’s voice is like Jessie Ware met Sade and went into the afterlife to bring Aaliyah back to us. Everything about them is so precious, and I think it is obvious that 2014 is going to be very good to them.

The Child Of Lov-  It’s hard to write about someone who’s music really blew you away, only to find out you’ll never hear anything from them again. The Child Of Lov made music to loosen your limbs to. He had that genius quality to his music that is found in the likes of Burial, Jai Paul and Kindness. He was just a joy to listen to. It’s hard to get your head around something like this. I listen to Fly, and it’s hard to imagine that nothing like this is going to come from him again. Of course what we have is beautiful, and of course notion of what could have been does come kicking in. We’ve got the music. It may only be one record, but it was one record that truly blew my mind this year. He had an alluring mystery to his music. You were (and still are) left with a sense of wonder and thousands of questions when you listen to his music. Obviously other questions now arise, but like I said- at least we have the music. He’s at peace now, and I guess that’s something we can take comfort in.

I have to be up at 4am because I’m off to Paris in the morning, and although I wish I was asleep right now I thought it’d be a great idea to listen to one of the most rowdy bands I’ve heard in a long long time.

Girl Tears are another West Coast band that I’ve been enjoying lately. Their songs are ridiculously short, and really do feel like a smack in the face- but in a pleasant way. They have a song on their debut release called Dream Baby and it only lasts 21 seconds. Cynics or fools would probably regard this by thinking the band just don’t care. They make noise for a few seconds, then move on. That’s really not the case. Not everything needs to last 5 minutes sending you off into a dream world. Sure I love music like that, but sometimes I want to listen to music that carries on the Ramones legacy. And that is short and brutal songs that pretty much melt your face and burst your ear drums. Girl Tears are more aggressive than the Ramones; I don’t think any of the Ramones were aggressive guys. Joey was a gentle giant. Besides, just because someone makes music like this doesn’t mean they are going to start a fight at any chance they get.

Girl Tears debut record has only been out a month, and I have no idea how many people have heard it. But sadly, I can guess how many have missed out on it. Alright so not everyone is going to like Girl Tears but for those who want something that has bite to it and isn’t all soppy; then Girls Tears are for YOU. They are for EVERYBODY. The West Coast has produced some amazing bands, and Girl Tears are another name to add to that growing list.

Their debut records is like the Ramones having it off with The Cramps. Creepy and unlike anything else around. As I listen to them, I don’t feel like I’m listening to a new band. They take you back in time where music wasn’t afraid to be extreme or out there. Wearing a meat dress or popping out of an egg at an awards show doesn’t make you different. Sticking your tongue out constantly doesn’t make you a rebel- because you’re not rebelling against anything. Bands like Girl Tears are taking a stand against all this. They’re not afraid of standing out or making music that may not be to everyone’s taste. Thank fuck we’re all different!

I’ve played their record about 4 times as I’ve written this, and it’s one of those records that I’m going to remember for a long time. They’re everything I want in a band, and that 4am alarm is becoming less dreadful as I listen to them. If I’m going to stay awake for a while, it might as well be for a good reason.
