Florence-Live Lounge.

I counted, this is my 15th entry about Florence! Shall I just make a blog purely about her? That’d be too much.

ANYWAY.

I hate Radio 1, and I dislike Jo Whiley….but I managed to sit through hearing her voice to hear Florence on the Live Lounge. The last 5 minutes will make you cry. I don’t care if you claim to never cry-this will break your heart and you will cry. Why will you cry? Because it is heartbreakingly beautiful. Her cover of Halo is better than the orignal. I hope she plays this in September!

Florence And The Machine-Live Lounge. June 24th 2009.

I have no idea how many times I’ve listened to this!

It’s time for another entry about Florence!

Yes, this is yet another entry about the most beautiful and talented person in the world….Florence Welch.

I swear no singer has ever meant this much to me. Florence, if you see this- I FRIGGIN’ LOVE YOU!

Right, obsessive fan out of the way…have some clips which I found on YouChoob!

Girls Aloud Cover.

Hurricane Drunk(Live) – That’s for someone.

Hurricane Drunk and Are You Hurting The One You Love? are my favourites off the album so far. No, I’ve not heard the album, I’ve heard it live. And these are the two tracks which just make me want to cry, smile and make my heart beat faster. Is it like being in love? Oh, I suppose so. I am in love with her music..it’s just so mind-blowing and orignal and perfect.

Just because her album comes out in 2 weeks doesn’t mean I’m going to shut up about her!

Tickets for her UK September tour go on sale tomorrow (see you in Brum…I’ve got beef with the Academy moving venues though!)

Florence And Dev!

Florence and Dev Hynes covering one of the greatest punk tracks….scrap that. COVERING ONE OF THE BEST TRACKS OF ALL TIME. It’s Search And Destroy by the amazing, Iggy Pop. This cover is amazing. I LOVE THE PERSON WHO UPLOADED IT! There’s two other videos they’ve put up of them singing together- check them out. The Blink 182 one is funny, they forget the words! Oh, and there’s Dev’s Galaxy Of The Lost which is just beautiful, as always.

Florence & Dev- Search And Destroy (Live Cover).

Florence And The Machine. 22nd May. Birmingham Academy 2.

The time is finally here. I have finally seen her live. Enjoy the review 🙂

There’s a good chance this review may turn into some kind of ramble, I apologise. I’ve just returned home and my head is all over the place. I feel my words may make no sense, but when do they!

Golden Silvers are an amazing live band with some beautiful lyrics. I urge you to go see them live and to purchase their album from a record shop (I’m not a fan of downloading!).

You may know Golden Silvers’ track, True Romance. It’s a top tune. Anyway, I’m standing in the crowd watching them in awe and possibly in my own little world when suddenly about 3 or 4 screaming ladies come running in. One grabs my shoulder and I move to the side to let them in. They then start dancing like nutcases, and of course I look at them and smile. However, my smile quickly turns into an “OH MY GOODNESS LOOK WHO IT IS” kind of gormless expression. So I tug at my friend’s sleeve and nudge her, telling her to look to her side. She replies with, “No it’s not.” I of course, say “IT IS!” We then realise that I have been grabbed by Florence and she is now dancing like mad in front of us to Golden Silvers. This dear reader has made me again declare, that this is the best gig that I have ever been to!

After just under two years of waiting to see her, the time has finally arrived. The stage is decorated in a vintage fashion and she takes to the stage with her band. I must say now, the harp that is on the stage is just astounding. I wish I could play it. Anyway, she stands in front of the mic and blesses us all with her fantastic voice. She claims that she is losing her voice, but it’s on perfect form. There is no faulting it. Tracks from her debut album, Lungs are also played and they give the indication that this WILL be the album of the year.

Fan favourites such as Girl With 1 Eye, Hurricane and Dog Days Are Over (cue stage dive!) are played. The track that just made this evening a rarity was Florence inviting a group of kids on stage to sing Kiss With A Fist with her. How many bands do that now? Hardly any. In fact, how many bands rush into the crowd whilst the support act is on and dance to them? Hardly any.

Florence is, as clichéd as it sounds, a star. She has the best voice in the UK and we should be ridiculously proud of her because she is so talented. Just watching her perform tonight, you can easily see that she loves what she is doing. She may not play massive venues, and you know what- that’s fine because you can truly appreciate her talent (and the bands’) in a smaller venue. Oh, and because she stage dives too!

The set is ended with a cover of Candi Staton’s You Got The Love. I was hoping that she would end the set with this, and she did. There are no words.

I may be totally biased here, but crowds in the Midlands are the best. Everyone left with a massive smile on their faces tonight, and they also experience something truly remarkable.

Florence And The Machine (how many times have I written about her?!)

Have you heard her new single? Well, if you haven’t- let me tell you now that it is the song of the summer and probably the song of the year. The chorus is just so captivating, you will sing a long. You will sing a long LOUDLY. You HAVE to! It is a magnificent song. There’s a few tracks floating around on YouTube from her album, Lungs which is out in July I think? Or is it June? I cannot remember. But this single is amazing. I hope you love it. By rights, it should be Number 1 in the charts when it comes out. It’s beautiful!

Florence And The Machine- Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up).

And of course…………..

Florence And The Machine 🙂

Florence And The Machine….yes, AGAIN!

I adore Candi Staton’s track, You Got The Love. I love the version by The Source too.

However, as a massive Florence And The Machine I was reduced to tears when I heard her version of this beautiful song. The emotion in it and the words always get to me. But her version just…I have no idea, but I know it’s one of the best covers I’ve heard in a very long time.

What I love about this YouTube clip is how everyone in the audience has their hands in the air and belting it out with her. I wish I was there.  I think I may have to spend £15 to see her on that NME tour..even though she’s the only act I like on the line up! If she played this I’d be a wreck. It’s a very special song to me, and to hear it covered so perfectly makes me stupidly happy.

You can get the full version off iTunes or if you buy her single Dog Days Are Over. It needs to make the album and be made into a single. People need to hear just how amazing and beautiful this cover is.

Her album is hopefully coming out in May. I cannot wait!
