Easily the best band I have seen live, and probalby the best band I will ever see.
They’ve got a UK Tour in May..so I’ve heard. I hope there’s a Birmingham date. I’ve only seen them 4 times, but I need to see them again! It’s been a long time. I’m even wearing my Gossip t-shirt today 🙂
For ages, I’ve been listening to Karima Francis..but I never knew what her name was! I’m sometimes crap at remembering names of bands/singers I like. But, I won’t be forgetting this one!
Her voice is beautiful. So beautiful. I think she’s on Jools Holland tonight? I know that Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Specials are 🙂 and I think she is too.
Hopefully she’ll be rather popular this year, but to be honest..she probably already is!
Before I tell you how amazing the new material by The Horrors is..I think I may have to delete my post about my favourite songs of all time. After looking at my list, I saw so much wrong with it! I’ve left out so many songs I love. I must stop trying to narrow down my favourite songs of all time because I just cannot do it! The top 3 will NEVER change- that I am sure of.
I’ve haven’t made a post in a while because I’ve ignored everything that’s been going on lately (good and..moreso bad) and thrown myself into my uni work. Last year counts apparently! Out of 4 modules, I’ve completed the work for 2 of them in the space of 4 days. Oh, and I’ve also been watching The Wire which is easily the best thing on TV and probably the best thing to have been on TV in..well, decades!
Now for the purpose of this post!
The Horrors’ new material is FAN-F*CKING-TASTIC. I love the band, s obviously I’ll be a tiny tiny bit biased. However, even if I was one the fools that ignored them when Strange House came out, I’d fall in the love with the new stuff.
A few new songs have appeared on YouTube, and a personal favourite has to be Who Can Say (I’m at my mum’s for Easter…the keyboard on the PC is utter wank!) Faris’ voice sounds so hurt yet beautiful. I hope this is on the album and not just one of these “rumoured” to be on the album because it is a bloody good song.
Enough of my rambling about how good their new stuff is, GO LISTEN!

Okay, so I’m sat here reading Nerve’s Top 40 Sexiest Frontwomen. I choked on my Orange Squash (yes, it’s Saturday night and I’m home alone drinking Orange Squash..whatever! I’ve got a degree to sort of complete..sort of)
Anyway, this list. I’ll say it’s awful just because I don’t agree with it. Why? BECAUSE THERE IS NO MENTION OF BRODY DALLE OR EMILY HAINES OR KATIE SKETCH OR BEYONCE(I know Beyonce isn’t rock, but she is sexy!). It’s annoyed me. And you know what else? Alison Mosshart was 40 and Beth Ditto was 39. FECK OFF!!! THEY SHOULD BE IN THE TOP 5! Seriously.
This is exactly why I hate lists. Because they are oh so typical and SHITE!
Read the list. Hopefully you’ll see why I’m a bit pissed at it. I’m not saying it’s totally wank, I mean a lot of the women in it do deserve to be in there like Patti Smith, Joan Jett..but still, you know. Alison Mosshart is WAY sexier than most of them mentioned. She should be at Number 1..not 40!! I may just make my own list…should I????!!!
If it wasn’t for Lester Bangs, I wouldn’t know about one of the greatest bands ever, Count Five. One of his books is called Psychotic Reactions and Carburetor Dung. First chapter is about Count Five. I’ve had his books for a few years now, but only recently checked out Count five.
I’ve been spending a lot of time listening to them, and not completing my uni work 🙂

This song is only just over 3 and a half minutes on record. Live? My goodness. It’s about TEN! It’s the electrifying and magnificent thing I’ve ever seen. Truly astounding.

Awwwwww….HELL YES!!! There is a video to Gimme Sympathy! They’ve been playing this LOADS acoustically at the moment. The video was uploaded yesterday. I love this video!! Jimmy on drums wearing a wig..awesome!
It involves dancing on cars and putting band members in a trolly. It’s quite frankly AMAZING!

In about…half an hour, I’ll be having a phone interview with Emily and James from Metric. Am I nervous? Hell yes. But I’m also stupidly excited.
Anyway, what I wanted to share was this clip I just found on YouTube (it was added a few hours!). Now, my favourite track off the new album is Front Row..closely followed by Blindness. So, I thought I’d type it in YouTube to see if there’s any live clips. Not only is it live..but…IT’S ACOUSTIC!!! Acoustic songs by Metric=THE BEST THING IN THE WORLD. It is so so so so beautiful. It actually brought tears to my eyes. I’ve got it on repeat.

Do you like The Horrors? Do you like songs that last over 5 minutes? If your answer is YES! then you will probably love the new song by The Horrors. It is called Sea Within A Sea and it is F*&%ING AMAZING!!!
Every song on Strange House was no longer than 3 minutes…the new one is 7 minutes. SEVEN MINUTES!!!! It is so different from Strange House, Faris is singing on it! Faris singing will probably mean people will not disregard them now.
There’s a UK tour at the end of May until mid June. I need to get to the Birmingham gig, it’s at the Barfly.
Right so the song, after 3.20 it does this insane bit then calms down. Just listen to it.
This is what the countdown on their site was about last week! I’m so excited for the new album, Primary Colours. It’s going to be rather good I reckon!
