New Music Is Good For The Soul.

I know I tend to listen to old stuff rather than new, but every so often I like to subject my ears to something new so I don’t become one of those people who whinge and say, “I remember when music….” I just don’t want to miss out on anything good. And I like to think with the music I’m going to put here is a billion times better than the tripe you will hear on a commercial wanky radio station. I do not need to tell you which station, do I? No.

I won’t bother writing a huge essay, you don’t need that. And quite frankly, I want to go make myself a cup of tea. So here, have some songs :

Ladyhawke-Black,White & Blue.

They do say that good things come to those who waited. I (and others) have been waiting a LONG time for some new material from Ladyhawke. Her debut album is one I hold very dear to me, reminding me off my time at University. Thinking about it, I now feel very old. But that’s the past and it doesn’t need thinking about right now because we FINALLY have some brand new Ladyhawke music.

Her new single Black, White & Blue- in my humble and biased opinion is incredible. I’m directing all my love right now towards this song. I’m a huge huge fan of Ladyhawke, and I knew her new stuff was going to be amazing. If the whole album sounds like this, then I’m sure we have a contender for Album of the Year. Easily.

Ladyhawke.

I love Ladyhawke. I want a new album and I want a tour. I’m not the only one. She’s amazing.

Back Of The Van.

Better Than Sunday. < This reminds me of someone..most of the album does, but it’s getting a bit easier to listen to. Still a great song.

French version of Paris Is Burning.

Just don’t make the mistake I once did and buy the wrong Ladyhawke album thinking she had an EP out…remember..there’s an “E” at the end!

And of course, Ellie Goulding is the winner of The Critics Choice Award 2010. Flo won it last year, now Ellie this year. I am utterly pleased with this. I will probably cry when she comes on stage to collect the award. I do hope Flo wins something, she has to. If she does, I’d very much like her to repeat the speech she made last year. Something along the lines of “FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK” then at the end she said, “I’m going to get drunk now.” God bless her. I will cry if she wins anything, I really will. You know I’ve loved her since that amazing clip of her and Lightspeed Champion on YouTube of them singing in his kitchen back in 2007. It’s been love since then..and to see someone you just love and adore their talent become a double platinum album selling artist..it’s just a beautiful thing. I know I don’t her haha, but Lungs means a lot. And, Dog Days Are Over has given me the courage to move away from where I live. I’m packing up my shit and I’m going. Lungs got me through a breakup, I’ve made some amazing friends through mutual love of Florence..I have so many memories with this album. And to see it do so well..just makes me happy and have faith in the music industry again.

Right, I’ve rambled and I sound strange!

Ladyhawke.

I should have made this entry weeks ago about her debut self titled album. I apologise. But I have been listening to it none stop for the past few weeks.

My Delirium is my favourite track. Easily. If you’re going to buy it based on your love for Paris Is Burning then you will not be disappointed. You’ll fall in love and you won’t be able to stop playing these 13 tracks. Check out Dusk Till Dawn video on YouTube, the one with Dev Hynes (Lightspeed Champion) in. Awesome stuff.
She’s touring with Black Kids this month and next month. GO WATCH YOU FOOLS!

I’m not going to compare Ladyhawke to anyone, because there is no comparison. She’s fantastic, beautiful and talented.
