The XX.
The XX were my favourite band of 2009. I remember hearing their cover of Hot Like Fire by Aaliyah but not knowing who they were, for some odd reason, I just didn’t take note of their name. Then I heard Basic Space, Crystalised etc. The album came out and I fell in love. Utter love. The album amazed me. I was just left in awe. Everything about their debut album is just stunning. But like most people have said, it is the way Romy and Oliver’s voices compliament each others.
This is shown at a recent wee gig they did for Vans in America. It’s shot in black and white which makes it so beautiful.

I think they pretty much define “supergroup.” I adore Alison Mosshart a hell of a lot. She’s the best frontwoman around right now (Florence doesn’t count…shush!)
