Takeda

Dear reader, treasure your local music scene. Go to your local and watch. Possibly learn. Your local pub will put on bands that you pay nothing to watch and in a few years time- they’ll probably be on a headline tour at £15 a ticket. And you can say “I saw them before they got big…for free.”

Allow me to introduce you to some wonderful folk from Norwich. Takeda are a 3 piece band and have recently supported the lovely Jessica Hoop at Norwich Arts Centre and are constantly being praised and played by BBC Norfolk Introducing. Their MySpace page may only have 3 tracks (1 being live) up but good things come to those who wait. They remind me a bit of Mumford & Sons, which I’m sure they will get a lot due to lazy journalism. To redeem myself with that lazy comparison, vocally the sound reminds me slightly of Fyfe Dangerfield and Orlando Weeks from The Maccabees. Which I personally love. A lot.

Sweetheard is my favourite track they have up on their page. I just love the intro and the crashing cymbal.

Takeda’s debut EP, Hufsa will be out on September 6th on Dustbowl Records.

Enjoy.
