As I was listening to the show, I had a bit of a GENIUS idea…so I made a Facebook group. JOIN : Florence Should Have Her Own Radio Show!
Florence is presenting Zane Lowe’s show on Radio 1 tonight. 7-9pm. I never listen to Radio 1, but I’m willing to make an exception for Florence, of course!
I hope she plays Jefferson Airplane and maybe she does a bit of a singsong?! Anyone who reads this and listens in…email her and tell her about this bloghaha! Publicity and all that!!!
There’s a few songs by Florence + The Machine that sound different to the ones that have appaeared on Lungs.
Firstly, there’s this version of : My Boy Builds Coffins. This version sounds quite bluesy and not as dark as the version on Lungs. I’m not knocking either version. I just love the different sound. I reckon Flo should do a Blues album. That’d be cool. Or even better, an album of ALLLLL the demos because only a few were on the deluxe version of Lungs. I’d buy anything she did to be honest. Even if it was an album of Robbie Williams songs..and I can’t stand him.
There’s this version of : Swimming Song. which has that raw sound of Kiss With A Fist. There’s a bit of Punk in Florence. She did Search And Destroy with Lightspeed Champion at a gig in Brighton last year. It was pretty friggin’ good. I loved it. Dev Hynes is a phenomanel guitarist and Flo is a fantastic singer, so of course it was beyond brilliant.
You’ve all heard the versions of Ghosts/I’m Not Calling You A Liar/Don’t Tell Me. Regardless of which version you love, the song is great.
I’ve got a demo version of Kiss With A Fist which is so raw and actually makes you want to punch someone in the jaw. I obviously wouldn’t do such a thing, but the version of it is THAT good.
There’s honestly no point to this post. I just wanted to write about Florence (again…I know). I juts love her and I love how she has this raw sound that everyone has fallen in love with. I remember first watching a clip of her on YouTube in 2007 and just falling in love. Her voice, her lyrics, her stage presence- it’s all amazing. A gifted human being. She could sing any song, any kind of genre and it’d be beautiful.
And Rob too! Can’t forget Rob. This is beautiful.

Hurricane Drunk is the next single. Video is being shot in Paris. The Horrors are doing a remix. The video will be on Channel 4 on 29th January. The single will be avaliable to buy/download on 1st March.
This has made me very happy as Hurricane Drunk is one of my favourites off the album..and The Horrors (who I adore) are doing a remix. 2010 is pretty friggin’ good already!
This is from Bestival 2009. One of my favourite performances of this song. Flo’s face just lights up like a kid at Christmas who’s got the one thing they wanted. Beautiful and adorable. Enjoy!

Flo + The Machine were on Jools Holland last night. They were also on TOTP’s New Year’s Eve Special too (I watched this at my Gran’s and it was quiet…see, people know to hush when Flo’s on!)
The performances, as always, were beautiful.

BBC Radio 4 this evening had a wonderful show on about this year’s women in music. It features the gorgeous Florence, La Roux, Bat For Lashes, Lily Allen and others.
It’s only half an hour, but it’s a lovely feature.
